Are you a writer, editor and media strategist who’s passionate about shaping the future of your community? Then you might be a great candidate as the City of Portland’s new Transition Content and Media Coordinator. We’re looking for somebody who’s skilled at developing content, working with journalists, and advancing equity and inclusion to serve as the lead writer and spokesperson for historic changes to Portland’s city government.
Reporting to the Transition Communications and Engagement Manager, this position is part of a team dedicated to informing Portlanders and city employees about the transition and engaging them in shaping the future of their new form of government. The Content and Media Coordinator will play a key role, developing a variety of content that informs and educates the community: website content, social media posts, presentations, press releases, key messages for stakeholder groups and more. This will require you to become a subject matter expert in all aspects of the transition, understanding technical details so you can distill information for a variety of audiences. The person in this position will also serve as the media strategist and lead spokesperson for the City’s transition, working closely with journalists to elevate transparency throughout the process.
