Human Services Supervisor

General Information

  • This position will supervise a unit of Client Services Technicians and Child Welfare Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialists who provide support to case managers in the areas of transportation, collecting records, birth parent visitation supervision, making referrals to birth parent services, organizing family meetings, and coordinating follow-up tasks.
  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a social, behavioral science, or human services field such as social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation, education, nursing, sociology, or closely related field of study that included family systems; AND at least one year of experience in social service delivery or case management OR one year of experience as a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC).

Our generous benefits package increases the total compensation of a full-time (benefits eligible) Child Welfare Human Services Supervisor making $26.33/hour to an estimated $38.00/hour.

Example of Duties
  • Oversee staff workloads, assignments, and prioritization
  • Observes quality of service delivery activities by staff on a routine basis
  • Supervises staff who on occasion coordinate visitations, family meetings, and/or parent meetings during non-traditional work hours; may occasionally need to provide coverage or attend meetings
  • Insures quality of reports and assessments
  • Attends multi-disciplinary team meetings, to include family meetings, meetings with case managers and safety assessors, and meetings with community partners, or ensure lead worker presence
  • Promotes standardization and consistency of practice
  • Develops and implements work plans
  • Participates in child welfare case staffing activities
  • May provide direct services
  • Hires, recommends training needs, and evaluates staff performance

Minimum Qualifications

  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices. Requires completion of a class or seminar (more than one day) specifically covering supervisory practices; OR lead work experience that required work direction, monitoring work, and making work assignments (such experience on a fill-in basis if non-qualifying unless for a period of approximately three months or more); OR completion of a college-level personnel course.
  • Some knowledge of community organization/development principles and processes. Requires completion of community organization/development course or workshops equivalent to three semester hours of college credit or 40 classroom hours of specific training OR has served in a direct services role for at least one year in case management or psychosocial or rehabilitation therapy or counseling and applying these principles in a community development role.
  • Experience demonstrating good knowledge of human services principles and practices to include social and family systems, human growth and development, and case management methods. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a social, behavioral science, or human services field such as social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation, education, nursing, sociology, or closely related field of study that included family systems; AND at least one year of experience in social service delivery or case management OR one year of experience as a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC).
