Financial Specialist, Principal - FSO
Idaho State Police is currently recruiting for a Financial Specialist, Principal. This position will supervise or oversee the activities of a major financial system requiring the application of accounting/auditing theory, principles, and practices; perform related work.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Supervise or oversee the activities of a major financial system requiring the application of accounting and/or auditing theory, principles, and practices.
- Supervise and mentor the professional and support staff of a major accounting unit.
- Contact with public officials and private business representatives to resolve and/or discuss accounting or auditing problems.
- Oversee and develop a financial program integrating national accounting, auditing, or budgeting standards, federal and state guidelines and procedures, and agency policies.
- Direct preparation or supervision of the preparation of a variety of professional financial documents and review/approve the final product.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to management, staff, or external customers in using and evaluating computer systems for financial reporting purposes.
- Perform advanced professional financial skills.
- Supervise or conduct audits of increasing complexity and size.
- Analyze, research and maintain financial data.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good knowledge of:
- accounting principles and practices
- supervisory practices
Experience:
- using personal computers to develop, analyze, and report on financial data
- monitoring/reviewing internal financial controls
- resolving technical accounting, auditing, or budgeting problems
- preparing financial documents for management review
- analyzing financial activities and recommending or implementing management actions
EXTRA CREDIT:
Experience:
- working with teams and being an effective team member
- in governmental accounting and/or reconciling to Idaho's State Accounting Systems (i.e. STARS, IBIS, Pcards, Navision, Etc.)
