Farmer's Market Food Access Assistant

Program Information: SNAP-Ed (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education) is a federal grant program that supports health and food security for low-income people and communities. In partnership with community organizations, SNAP-Ed works towards making the healthy choice the easy choice where people live, work, play, learn, and shop. SNAP-Ed in Snohomish County is implemented through Washington State University Snohomish County Extension. 

Job Description: We’re looking for a part-time, temporary staff member to assist with various farmer’s market programming in Snohomish County. Programming will include farmer’s market tours, food and physical activity related kid’s activities, and promoting farmer’s market incentive programs (SNAP Market Match, WIC and Senior FMNP, etc.) at various locations throughout Snohomish County. Variable schedule primarily Wednesday-Friday and Saturday morning shifts. Travel mileage reimbursed. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with weekly activity preparations and organizing educational materials
  • Share and promote program activities via prepared print materials and social media posts (Facebook and Instagram)
  • Use prepared curriculum lesson and materials to teach kids club activities to children ages 4-14 alongside WSU Extension staff
  • Support in farmer’s market tour facilitation
  • Assist in setup and breakdown of market booth

Required Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of people, including staff, market vendors, and market customers
  • Team-oriented; able to work collaboratively and independently
  • Reliable transportation and auto insurance
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Age 18 or older

Desired Qualifications:

  • Direct education experience or strong presentation and communication skills
  • Proficient in navigating Facebook and Instagram
  • Fluent in Spanish

Location:  Washington State University Snohomish County Extension office in Snohomish and various farmer’s markets across Snohomish County; Some work from home ability.

FTE: Part time, 10-16 hours/week
