Technical Records Specialist 1 - Medicaid

The Division of Medicaid is currently filling a Technical Records Specialist 1 position to work in our Twin Falls field office and will report to the Administrative Assistant 2. The incumbent will work with the Bureau of Developmental Disability Services (BDDS) and provide support to the BDDS Care Managers & QA Specialists, processing authorizations for services, responding to inquiries from providers and clients, and other duties as needed. The incumbent will need a special eye for attention to detail, be organized and self-motivated, with good customer service skills, and effective learning skills.

There may be opportunity for a hybrid office/telework arrangement.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

 

  • Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries.
  • Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments.
  • Perform specialized support work that involves an extensive in-depth knowledge of the program.
  • Review, evaluate, approve, and process records and/or documents.
  • Determine acceptability or conformance to eligibility requirements according to rules, regulations, statutes, and program policies and procedures.
  • Explain requirements, processes, and procedures to customers.
  • Manipulate and update manual and/or computerized records systems.
  • Develop reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors. Typically gained by one year of work experience.
  • Experience researching a variety of sources to resolve problems. Typically gained by one year of work experience.
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments. Typically gained by one year of work experience.
  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system. Typically gained by six months of work experience.

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  • Experience interacting with customers via telephone and / or in person to identify their service needs and route them to an appropriate person or service to address their concerns.
