Primarily responsible for the operation of the wastewater treatment plants and water distribution systems of the County to ensure appropriate treatment of wastewater and drinking water for the citizens. 


Required for Each Level: High School Diploma or GED, Valid WA State Driver License, & First Aid/CPR Card


                Obtain the Group I Wastewater Certification within one year of hire


                Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Cert 

                Water Distribution Specialist Cert


                Group II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Cert

                Water Distribution Manager I Cert

                Wastewater Collection Specialist I Cert

                Confined Space Training Cert

                CDL – Preferred, not required



Health Insurance - Regular full-time employees and their qualifying dependents are eligible for medical, dental, & vision insurance coverage.  Some regular part-time employees may receive the same coverage.  Employees may partially contribute premiums depending upon the type of coverage selected.

Retirement Plan - All regular employees are enrolled in the Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), Public Safety Employees' Retirement System (PSERS), or Law Enforcement Officers' and Fire Fighters' (LEOFF) Retirement System.  The County and employees contribute jointly to the plans.

Employee Salary & Benefit Information

Paid Leave - Sick leave, holidays, and vacation are provided in accordance with the County policy or union contracts. Vacation accrual rates increase at regular intervals based on length of service with the County.

Longevity - The county provides additional monthly compensation for eligible employees to recognize continuous length of service as a county employee.
