Communications Coordinator, Communications Consultant 2 (CC2)

Salary: $3,974.00 - $5,341.00 Monthly 

Required Qualifications: 
 

  • Bachelor's degree in communications of visual media or closely related field AND one year of experience in a communications role;
    OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Experience drafting press communications materials, including press releases and media advisories.
  • Experience with Drupal-based websites.
  • Experience supporting other communications professionals with tasks ranging from social media to press releases to media tracking to press events.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.

    Want to tell the story of a vital state Agency and a dynamic elected official in Washington State? The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our Communications Department.

    This position supports other communications managers and contributes to strategic guidance to the Communications Director and Deputy Communications Director, along with division, region, and program staff. This position also helps prepare materials for the commissioner of public lands for media interviews on a range of issues and supports other communications managers in message crafting and editing as needed. This position supports the Communications and Outreach division in outreach to media, the planning and implementation of media events, and in emergencies/crises. This position also serves as the alternate/backup webmaster as needed and works with Communications and Outreach staff, region staff, division staff, and program staff to create, edit, and publish agency materials and information on the agency’s public-facing website.
