Pyrochemical Researcher

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Pyrochemical Researcher to work in our Pyrochemical Science department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our MFC facility with every Friday off.

A Hands-on Researcher in the Pyrochemical Science Department supports the development of cutting-edge technologies for the management and recycling of used nuclear fuels at the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC).

Responsibilities Include:

  • Apply engineering and research principles to implement research projects, experiments, and technologies in radiological and nuclear laboratories.
  • Collaborate with facility management, engineers, other researchers, health and safety professionals, and subject matter experts to write work control documents and procedures to complete pyrochemical experiments
  • Obtain qualification to work in radiological gloveboxes in facilities at the Materials and Fuels Complex.
  • Work under the supervision of principal researchers to perform work in a safe and compliant manner and to meet research goals.
  • Prepare reports and journal articles and present results of research to external customers and at national and international conferences.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Level 1: B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Level 2: B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field and 2 years of experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. 

Preferred Experience:  

  • Experience in development of work control procedures and processes is highly desired.
  • Hands on laboratory experience desired. 
  • Radiological worker experience desired.

Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($63,528.00 - $130,284.00) / Level 2 ($75,804.00 - $155,496.00). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment 
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
