We are hiring to fill several vacancies within NRCS' Soil Research Branch Laboratory at the National Soil Survey Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. As a Physical Science Technician, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating laboratory analysis of soil samples.
- Collecting, storing, and analyzing data through the operation of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and other laboratory databases.
- Managing proper sample identification, transport, preparation, handling, analysis, and disposal of domestic and foreign soils that are regulated by USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
- Maintaining the LIMS by applying software updates, incorporating new instruments, and modifying calculations and processes as necessary.
- Responding to customer requests and inquiries regarding specific data sets; performing data reviews; and processing, interpreting, and producing custom reports.
- Preparing written methods and creating presentations about laboratory data, procedures, and analytical results/operations according to management directives.
These positions will be located in Lincoln, Nebraska, and are eligible for telework according to agency policy.
