Title- Talent Acquisition Specialist 

Classification- Human Resource Consultant 3 (HRC3)

Job Status- Full-Time-Permanent 

WDFW Program- Directors Office – Human Resources Division 

Duty Station- Olympia, Washington – Thurston County

Hybrid/Telework- This is a hybrid position; however, the successful candidate must reside in Washington State and be available to report to the headquarters in Olympia, WA, as needed.

 In this dynamic role, you’ll represent WDFW at Career and Educational Fairs and thrive in a fast-paced environment, providing exceptional customer service to both candidates and hiring managers.

You’ll build strong, collaborative partnerships with hiring managers, using innovative recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of talented candidates and ensure a seamless, positive experience throughout the hiring process.

 

What to Expect:

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will, 

  • Provide consulting in areas of recruitment, selection, affirmative action, diversity, and career counseling.
  • Review position descriptions and required qualifications for accuracy and work with hiring managers and HR Consultants to update as needed.
  • Achieve staffing objectives by recruiting and evaluating job candidates and consulting with hiring managers.
  • Develop, create, and maintain recruitment announcementsquestionnaires, and bid notifications with assistance and input from supervisors and managers to align with position description. 
  • Provide guidance to hiring managersemployees, and applicants regarding recruitment status, policies and procedures, applicable areas of the collective bargaining agreements, civil service rules, and other state and federal laws such as American Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and Title VII. 
  • Attract diverse applicant pools through outreach utilizing social media, participating at in-person and virtual job fairs, education, and training events.

 

Working Conditions: 

Work Setting, including hazards: Office setting, computer work most of the day. 

Schedule: 

  • Monday – Friday: 7:30 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.
  • Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required due to events or job fairs.

Travel Requirements: 

  • Monthly local or state-wide travel to attend meetings, training, or job fairs and WDFW related events.
  • Occasional out of state travel is possible for conferences.

 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: 

Four (4) years of professional level experience engaged in Human Resources.

  • With at least two (2) years in full cycle recruiting.

OR 

A bachelor’s degree in human resources, or related fields such as: 

  • Business Administration
  • Communication
  • Humanities/Sociology
  • Organizational Management
  • Psychology

AND

Two (2) years of professional level experience engaged in Human Resources or relevant administrative work with at least one (1) year in full cycle recruiting.

Demonstrated Skills/Experience:

  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience running reports and creating reports.
  • Experience with publisher or other graphic software.
  • Experience using social media including, but not limited to LinkedIn for building WDFW Brand diversity and inclusion and applicant pools.
  • Advanced creative writing/grammar skills for writing recruitments and marketing of positions as well as other professional written communication.

Demonstrated Competencies: 

  • Outward focused and can communicate clearly and with a friendly demeanor to customers.
  • Demonstrable professional experience providing excellent customer service.
  • Highly organized in their work and can demonstrate efficiency.
  • Understands process and can create easy to follow processes for a diverse audience.

Certifications/Licenses:

Valid Driver’s License. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the required qualifications, our ideal applicant will possess some or all the following:

  • Experience working in the State of Washington HRMS systems and processes.
  • Experience working in the State of Washington NeoGov systems and processes.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understands LEAN principles and understands how to implement it in workflow.
  • Provide expert level consultation on recruitment, selection, classification, and compensation process and procedures, best practices, CBAs, civil service rules. and other state and federal laws.
