Industrial Technology Instructor
1.0 FTE CTE Welding & Power Machinery/Woodworking Instructor
Purpose Statement:
Fosters and enhances an effective learning environment; facilitates the development or revision of curriculum and instructional materials; establishes learning objectives and standards based upon general District guidelines; provides instruction, counsels, disciplines and supervises to meet the individual needs of assigned students and evaluates student performance and progress.
Essential Functions:
- Fosters an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation process of assigned students; plans an instructional program designed to meet individual student needs and the whole group which may include at risk or special needs youth.
- Utilizes and maintains district/building curricular and student learning objectives.
- Maintains classroom discipline and uses effective classroom management skills.
- Confers with students, parents or guardians, and other staff, maintaining an open positive relationship as appropriate to provide guidance and evaluation and to encourage student achievement.
- Establishes classroom goals and objectives, in conformation with courses of study specified by State and School District statues, regulations and guidelines and records student progress; prepares reports for parents or guardians.
- Demonstrates overall proficiency in the four domains of instruction as found in the Danielson Framework to include: Planning and Preparation, Classroom Environment, Instruction, and Professional Responsibility.
- Collects and interprets a variety of data and adjusts instruction accordingly.
- Attends and participates in PLC group as well as required meetings or other activities as deemed necessary by the District and/or building principal, in accordance with CBA.
- Directs the activities of assigned non-certificated personnel and provides input into the evaluation as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and current valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsements appropriate for the assignment.
- CTE certification in welding, automated machining, construction, woodworking, or valid CTE certification and experience which allows for approval of a conditional CTE endorsement.
- Successful teaching experience in related subject area levels and/or grade level is preferred. If no prior experience must have successful student teaching experience.
- Industry and/or teaching experience in a related field preferred.
- Possess a high end-user level of technical knowledge of welding, fabrication, automated machining, and woodworking.
- Knowledge of CAD-type programs and usage with machinery.
- Demonstrated knowledge of machinery commonly found in the metal shop/fabrication/woodworking shop setting.
- Knowledge of current trends in the field of welding technology, machining, and its use in fabrication.
- Knowledge and current experience in the scheduling of, and experience in the maintenance of shop machinery.
- Previous teaching in skilled trades at secondary level preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, parents, and community.
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on department and school objectives and the needs and abilities of individual students.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and policies.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain high ethical standards.
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete records.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with emergencies in a calm and effective manner.
- Ability to develop instructional goals to account for individual student needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of state and national standards
- Possess knowledge and experience using technology in the delivery of curriculum and instruction.
- State and national fingerprint background checks are required.
- Must hold, or have the ability to obtain, a valid first aid and CPR card

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach welding, fabrication, woodworking, and/or power machinery classes.
- Provide leadership for the integration of information technology into the school curriculum.
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of appropriate CTE frameworks.
- Participate in program re-approval and maintain program frameworks.
- Provide CTSO and/or leadership opportunities for students.
- Actively participate in district and building Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
- Provide a program of study in the assigned content areas that meets the needs of students.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor the highest safety standards in a high-risk industrial environment.
- Actively participate in recruitment and management of advisory committee work.
- Employ appropriate instructional methods to accomplish intended student learning.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Maintain appropriate student records and participate in parent conferences as needed.
- Demonstrate successful organizational and classroom management skills.
- Maintain classroom equipment.
- Maintain appropriate student discipline in the classroom and at other school-related activities.
- Connect CTE programs in the community by providing work-based learning opportunities. Travel
with students to learning opportunities/competitions as needed/approved.
- Maintain an ongoing professional development plan with the CTE Director.
- Participate in staff meetings and other activities prescribed by the Principal or CTE Director.
- Assist Principal and CTE Director in curriculum planning.
- Work cooperatively with administration and other school staff.
- Work with administration and other staff to recruit students into CTE programs.
- Support and enforce school district and building policies.
- Perform other functions and duties as assigned and needed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:
As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Deer Park Education Association (DPEA) and Policies and Procedures of Deer Park School District. The 2024-2025 base salary range for certificated staff in the Deer Park School District is between $54,273 to $106,990 per school year. Placement is defined within the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and is generally based upon a combination of Education and Experience. Other forms of compensation may be available to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range or wage scale as defined within the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
