Marketing and Fan Engagement - Student Assistant Eastern Washington University Athletics
The Student Assistant for Marketing and Fan Engagement will play a crucial role in supporting the marketing efforts of the college athletics program. This position is designed for a motivated and creative student who is passionate about sports and eager to gain hands-on experience in sports marketing, fan engagement, and game day operations.
This position will report to the Director of Marketing & Creative Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Game Operations: Assist with the execution of pre-game and in-game promotions, including setup, coordination, and breakdown of promotional activities, and assist with video/camera operations (especially for first-year team members).
- Fan Engagement: Engage with fans during events to enhance their experience and encourage participation in promotions and activities.
- Event Promotion: Promote home athletics events both on campus and in the community through the distribution of promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and giveaways.
- Social Media Support: Assist with the development and creation of digital media content for social media platforms for various sports teams (as assigned), including graphics, videos, and interactive posts.
- Community Outreach: Help organize and participate in community engagement (on and off-campus) activities to increase the visibility and support of the athletics program.
- Marketing Research: Conduct research on current marketing trends and provide recommendations for new and innovative marketing strategies.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the marketing and fan engagement team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Eastern Washington University.
- Strong interest in college athletics and a desire to enhance the fan experience.
- Ability to think creatively and develop engaging promotional and social media content.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events and promotions.
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and basic graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite or similar) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry marketing equipment.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions, as some events may be outdoors.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during events.
Work Hours:
- Must be available for ALL home football games;
- September 20th @ 4 PM (Welcome Week)
- October 4th @ 4 PM (Homecoming)
- October 17th @ 4 PM
- November 1st @ 1 PM (Native American Heritage Month Kickoff)
- November 15th @ 1 PM (Hometown Heroes & Senior Day)
- Be available for most volleyball, soccer, and basketball (men’s and women’s) games as scheduled.
- Mostly nights and weekends, based on home event schedules. (available at goeags.com).
- Potential to work during quarter breaks (pending home and special event schedules).
- Up to 19 hours per week.
