The Game Day Camera Operator will play a crucial role in enhancing the game day experience for fans by capturing live game footage using in-stadium and in-arena cameras. This footage will be used for video board elements, replays, and other in-game entertainment features. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Creative Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating cameras during live sports events, including football, basketball (men’s and women’s), and volleyball games to capture high-quality footage for video boards and other in-game presentations.
- Follow directions from the Student Director(s) of Eagle Vision and the production team to ensure optimal camera angles and coverage.
- Set up and break down camera equipment before and after events.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with camera equipment.
- Collaborate with other video production team members to ensure seamless coverage and high-quality output.
- Maintain and organize camera equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions as required.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a student at Eastern Washington University.
- Prior experience with camera operation, preferably in a sports setting.
- Strong understanding of camera equipment, including setup and maintenance.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Passion for sports and a desire to enhance the fan experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with live event production.
- Familiarity with video editing software and production workflows.
- Knowledge of different sports and their specific camera requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry camera equipment.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions, as some events may be outdoors.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during events.
Work Hours:
- Must be available for ALL home football games;
- September 20th @ 4 PM (Welcome Week)
- October 4th @ 4 PM (Homecoming)
- October 17th @ 4 PM
- November 1st @ 1 PM (Native American Heritage Month Kickoff)
- November 15th @ 1 PM (Hometown Heroes & Senior Day)
- Be available for most volleyball and basketball (men’s and women’s) games as scheduled.
- Mostly nights and weekends based on home event schedules, including some holidays.
- Potential to work during quarter breaks (pending home and special event schedules).
- Up to 19 hours per week.
